CPK

About CP & CPK

As new people for 6Sigma I am not very clear for the calculate method of Cp &CPK. All of you who can explain the formula as follow :

Calculating Cp:
Cp = Spec width / Process width
Where Process width = (6 * s)
Use s from the loss-function lab
Calculating Cpk:
Cpk = (1 – k) * Cp
Where k = ( – target)/ ½ * specification width

I want to know :
1.what's the difference of SPEC width and Process width ;
2.How we can get the loss-function lab;
Thanks !

For your mentioned Spec width, it means "USL-LSL", (upper spec limit-lower spec limit), it's from your customer.
For Process width, I never heard such name before, it should be from your process capibility. According to the formula, the "s" means standard deviation. the calculation method by Excel is so simple: "=stdev("range")".

Any questions please let me know.
