two brothers james and herbert lived with their mother and a cat name edgar .james was particularly attached to the cat ,and when he had leave hometown for several days ,he left herbert meticulous instriuctions pat's care . at end of fist day away . james telephoned his brother .'how is edgar '
he is dead ,answered the herbert .
there was a pause moment , james said ,you're insensitive . you know i how to close to the edgar ,you should have broken new to me slowly :
when i ask about the edgar tonight ,you should have said ,edgar on the roof ,but i have called the fire department to get him down .
and tomorrow ,when i called ,you could have said the fireman were having trouble getting edgar down ,but you were hopeful they could succeed .
then ,when i called third times ,you could told that the fireman have done their best ,but unfortunately ,edgar had fallen off the roof ,and was at the veterinarians .
then ,when i called last time ,you could have said that ,although everything possible had been done for edgar ,he had died.
that's the way insensitive man would told me about edgar .
and ,oh ,before i forget ,james added,how is mother ?
oh, herbert said ,pausing for moment ,she's on the roof .
