I wonder whether this guy knows what are the responsibility and duties of General Manager? Also, I bet the boss would never read this letter--it is so long.
If I were the boss, I will tell him: My friend, I employ you as my GM, simply because I need someone who can manage the company for me, to drive the whole team on the right track to good business development, to identify problems and then take follow up actions.... In real life, all companies have their problems, no matter how good they are, or how big they are. I tell you even univesity students can list the problems in a company if I request them to do it. In fact, I expect you show your competence and then let me have confidence to buy-in your way to solve or mininize the problems, instead of "teaching" me. If I want someone to do analysis, I will ask the university guy do it, but not you.

Different types of companies have different types of problems. In fact, many big or giant companies have even worse problems than this one. If anyone don't realize those management challenges of big companies, the only reason is ...............he is not on that level.
